Company Reorganizes and Realigns to Address the Most Profitable Sectors of the Mobile Entertainment Market
Zingy, mobile entertainment industry pioneer and leader, announced today that it will begin closing down its personalization services division and reorganizing under the name of Vindigo. Scott Jensen, who joined Zingy in 2006 and was serving as senior vice president and head of business development, has been appointed CEO.
Zingy was formed in 2005 through the merger of Zingy, a mobile personalization products company, and Vindigo, a mobile applications and advertising company. The merger created a global developer and distributor of leading mobile applications, games and advertising, and personalization products such as ringtones and graphics. Today, the ringtone and mobile personalization services market is in decline.
“The new Vindigo is realigned on the company’s most profitable business lines,” said Scott Jensen, Vindigo CEO. “Our new strategic direction leverages our strengths as market leader in network-aware applications and refocuses us on the high-growth opportunities in mobile entertainment, which today are cross platform applications, mobile advertising, and casual games.”
The shutting down of the personalization division will result in a reduction in workforce, with some employees being redeployed in the remaining divisions. Going forward, Vindigo, which has the largest carrier distribution network in the Americas, will continue to develop its carrier distribution strategy, leveraging its proven mobile content distribution technology and developing more mobile applications similar to Vindigo’s MapQuest Mobile, MovieGoer, and Vindigo City Guide applications, which are some of the most successful products in the industry. Vindigo will also focus on mobile advertising, where it has continually launched high margin, active campaigns for Fortune 100 companies since 2000.
“The mobile entertainment market continues to boom, and we have undertaken this reorganization to take the best advantage of where the market is today,” added Jensen. “In the near future we will be announcing new strategic partnerships and we will be delivering some of the most innovative and exciting mobile entertainment content this industry has ever seen.”
