National Hockey League and HDNet Join Forces to Take Fans 'INSIDE THE NHL'

Weekly Program To Go Inside The Game Like Never Before - Tonight On HDNet At 6:30 p.m. ET

The National Hockey League (NHL) and HDNet have teamed up to present INSIDE THE NHL, a new weekly show airing on HDNet. Utilizing NHL Productions’ unprecedented access to NHL clubs and players, INSIDE THE NHL will feature programming regarding the upcoming game airing on HDNet, in-depth interviews with the biggest stars in the game -- both on and off the ice -- as well as the latest news from around the League.

The premiere episode of INSIDE THE NHL debuts on HDNet at 6:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 4 as the pre-game show to HDNet’s feature game of the Florida Panthers taking on the New York Rangers at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Hosted by long-time hockey broadcaster Dan Moriarty, INSIDE THE NHL is shot on the location of every HDNet Thursday night NHL game. Each week the show will include segments that give fans a personal look at their favorite NHL players, the top highlights from the current week and unique features showcasing NHL’s biggest stars and celebrity fans.

In the debut episode, New York Ranger Scott Gomez talks with Moriarty about his life’s journey from Alaska all the way to Madison Square Garden. Viewers also will get a special look back at the Anaheim Ducks’ Game 5 Stanley Cup win, with exclusive access to the Stanley Cup Champions from on-the-ice to their post-game dressing room celebration. This episode will re-air Saturday, prior to HDNet’s presentation of Anaheim’s game at Pittsburgh.

“INSIDE THE NHL is a hockey lover’s dream,” said Mark Cuban, president and co-founder of HDNet. “It’s an all-access pass to the NHL and its players that fans never really had – until now.”

"Everyone acknowledges high-def's impact on our game presentation, making HDNet the perfect partner for INSIDE THE NHL,” said Ken Rosen, NHL group vice president, video production and programming. “Now, thanks in part to Dan Moriarty’s access and relationship with our players, fans will feel like they're ‘hanging’ with the NHL's brightest stars right in their own living room."

INSIDE THE NHL airs on HDNet every Thursday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET.

About the NHL

The National Hockey League, founded in 1917, is the second-oldest of the four major professional team sports leagues in North America. Today, the NHL consists of 30 Member Clubs, each reflecting the League’s international makeup, with players from more than 20 countries represented on team rosters. According to a Simmons Market Research study, NHL fans are younger, more educated, more affluent, and access content through digital means more than any other sport. The NHL entertains more than 100 million fans each season in-arena and through its partners in national television (VERSUS, NBC, TSN, CBC, RDS, RIS, NASN, NHL Network and HDNet) and radio (Westwood One and XM Radio). Through the NHL Foundation, the League’s charitable arm, the NHL raises money and awareness for Hockey Fights Cancer, Hockey’s All-Star Kids and NHL Diversity, and supports the charitable efforts of all NHL players.
