Eagle Broadband, Inc. (OTCBB: EAGB), a leading national provider of IP products and services, announced today the completion of a large satellite downlink installation for 1560 The Game in Houston, Texas.
The project involved the installation of multiple (fixed and moveable) 3.8 meter antennas on the roof of 1560 The Game, the newest AM radio station in the Houston market. This project required a 150-foot crane to mount the antennas on top of the six story commercial building that hosts the station.
The project also called for Eagle’s technicians to complete the cabling infrastructure from the roof to the station’s fourth floor newly remodeled operations center. Also, Eagle provided and installed Starguide satellite receivers, collecting programming from various feeds such as ABC and ESPN across the country.
Tony Cordaro, Vice President and General Manager of IT Services for Eagle stated that he was proud of the Eagle team of technicians that completed this special project for The Game. “Such projects both expand our satellite unit’s revenue opportunities and extend our technical capabilities into the broadcast side of the satellite downlink business. This just drives to the heart of the success that Eagle’s Satellite and Communications unit has experienced since its formation in April of this year.”
“We had old, rusted satellite dishes that needed to be replaced and upgraded. The knowledgeable Eagle Broadband staff prepared well in advance for this project – they were professional, efficient and more than capable to fulfill our Commercial Broadcast satellite downlink needs,” said Debbie Brazier, Vice President Programming for 1560 The Game.
1560 The Game prides itself on being the radio station with the best sports and entertainment talk in Houston. There are twenty-nine Houston investors who have committed to this unique venture: a locally-owned, locally managed station in an era where nearly every major radio station has been bought by a large conglomerate. The station broadcasts live and locally produced shows, as well as syndicated programming via satellite feeds for GOW Communications, the owner of the station.
