Series to Kick-off with “In the Valley of Elah” Screening and Q&A with Paul Haggis and Charlize Theron
Variety today announced plans for their fourth annual L.A. Screening Series, kicking off Thursday, September 13th with showings of Warner Independent's "In the Valley of Elah," followed by a Q&A with director Paul Haggis and Charlize Theron.
The series plans to run at least 30 films from both major and independent studios through December 18th, all accompanied by Q&A's with directors, writers, producers and/or cast members. The screenings will be held at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood and at the Fine Arts Theatre on Wilshire. Additional films will be announced in the coming weeks.

Paramount Vantage’s “Into the Wild,” will be the second film of Variety’s L.A. Screening Series, showing Monday, September 17th, followed by a Q&A with director Sean Penn and the film’s cast, star Emile Hirsch and fellow cast members.
Variety's Gotham Screening Series, presented in association with Museum of the Moving Image, also will have a Sept. 13 screening, with David Cronenberg in attendance with his Focus Features film "Eastern Promises." The Gotham series will screen a dozen films through December.
Among those who have committed to attend Q&A's are Michael Caine, Ang Lee, Jude Law, Marc Forster, Brian Grazer, Joel and Ethan Coen, Julian Schnabel, Joe Wright and Paul Thomas Anderson.
The Screening Series is open to voting members of various guilds, though some tickets for the New York series will also be available to the public.
