Pitt County Memorial Hospital Goes Live With MARTTI™ Video Interpretation Services

Language Access Network (OTC: LANW) (FWB: L9N) the leader in video interpretation services, announced today that Pitt County Memorial Hospital, the flagship hospital for University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina, which provided care for more than 1.2 million patients last year, has performed its first interpretation with MARTTI™ LAN’s video interpretation services.

Under the agreement, Language Access Network will provide video/audio interpretation service in 150 languages, including American Sign Language (ASL).

The service, known as MARTTI™(My Accessible Real-Time Trusted Interpreter), will be available to patients for free 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Pitt County Memorial Hospital will be charged a per-minute fee based upon the interpretation time used.

Language Access Network estimates an average of 20% of all patients in the U.S. are Limited English Proficient, Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, or do not speak English well. LAN estimates that each patient encounter in a hospital environment, ER, Labor and Delivery, Clinic, etc. lasts between 7-12 minutes of time on the MARTTI™ unit, with a cost range of $1.75- $2.95 per minute.

All institutions receiving federal money are required through the American Disabilities Act and Civil Rights Act to provide interpretation services free of charge to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing and limited English proficient patients. MARTTI™ will help Naples Community Hospital comply with ADA, JCAHO, and HIPAA regulations.
