Dataworld Applications Enable Media Companies and Lawyers to Keep Mobile Tabs on FCC Actions

AppTracker and FLAG Services Track Actions by Market, Station, Location and Competitor Filings

BIAfn Dataworld (http://www.dataworld.com), a provider of broadcast engineering and FCC business intelligence to the media and communications industries, has enhanced its AppTrackersm and FLAGsm services to support the efforts of media companies and legal counsels to monitor FCC actions, whether for themselves or as a means to watch competitors. AppTracker also now sends detailed status reports to mobile applications, such as Blackberry, Treo and iPhone.

AppTracker monitors new applications under review at the FCC in real-time, enabling companies to stay on top of late-breaking developments on construction permits, license assignments, transfers of control, and consummated agreements. The service monitors the FCC on a constant basis and delivers decisions and actions round the clock based on application number, market areas, owner and licensee names, call signs, and email addresses. Its flexibility allows for various notification intervals and targeted dates.

“In today’s competitive environment, Dataworld’s AppTracker and FLAG keep tabs on the large and small decisions made by the FCC that are often too difficult to track,” said Mark R. Fratrik, Ph.D., Vice President, BIA Financial Network. “For example, changes in FCC rules pertaining to FM city of license moves can easily be missed if you are not familiar with the city name. Our services deliver information immediately so a person is always in possession of the details necessary to make important business decisions.”

FLAG notifies subscribers of activity at the FCC that impacts any monitored points and provides an early warning alert system on decisions affecting that specific area. As the industry continues its digital transition, FLAG provides up to the moment notification on station conversions. In addition to evaluating AM, FM, TV, LPTV/Translator, FLAG service also notifies of CATV, BCST, AUX, EBS/BRS, and wireless cable. The service also checks spacing criteria and educational proposals near commercial operation. FLAG can monitor entire states, distances out to 60 miles, or specific FCC release types or release items, and initiates an alert to Dataworld subscribers any time an FCC release mentions a station’s call letters or flagged geographic site.

Both FLAG and AppTracker are competitively priced, particularly for owners and managers that need to track multiple markets and applications.

BIA will be demonstrating FLAG and AppTracker at the 2007 NAB Radio Show in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 26 – 28 at Booth 405 in the exhibition Hall.
