“The consumer electronics industry has been incredibly supportive of DTS-HD Master Audio, and we expect to see a wave of products featuring DTS-HD capabilities this fall and beyond from all of the major manufacturers,” said Brian Towne, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Consumer Division at DTS. “Our licensees recognize the benefits of the DTS-HD Master Audio one-stream codec – for both manufacturers as well as consumers – and DTS is proud to enhance the next generation of home entertainment.”

As films, games and music become more interactive and immersive, crystal clear 7.1-channel sound becomes even more essential to the entertainment experience. Underscoring this point are DTS’ HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc demonstration discs featuring DTS-HD Master Audio movie and music clips produced in 1080p high definition video with audio that is bit-for-bit identical to the master soundtrack. The discs, which will be showcased by A/V manufacturers at CEDIA, will include 7.1-channel tracks from famed musicians BT and Omar Hakim, as well as 5.1-channel tracks from Peter Gabriel and Pat Metheny, and clips from the films Ice Age: The Meltdown and Fantastic Four.

About DTS-HD:

DTS-HD Master Audio is capable of delivering audio that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master and at super high variable bit rates -- 24.5 Mbps on Blu-ray discs and 18.0 Mbps on HD-DVD. This bit stream is so fast and the transfer rate is so high that it can deliver 7.1 audio channels with 96k/24-bit sound identical to the original. With DTS-HD Master Audio, consumers will be able to experience movies and music, exactly as the artist intended: Clear, pure, and uncompromised.

DTS-HD High Resolution Audio can deliver up to 7.1 channels of sound that is virtually indistinguishable from the original. DTS-HD High Resolution Audio delivers audio at high constant bit rates superior to standard DVDs -- 6.0 Mbps on Blu-ray Discs and 3.0 Mbps on HD DVD -- to produce outstanding sound quality. It is capable of delivering up to 7.1 channels at 96k/24-bit depth resolution and allows content creators to deliver rich, high definition audio on movies where disc space may not allow for DTS-HD Master Audio.
